To me freedom means I am one of those rare people who do what I want to do when I want to do it. My business doesn’t dominate my life. I travel, shop, hang with friends, dine in great restaurants and enjoy the activities and people that truly bring meaning to my life. I have long since stop trading time for dollars. The money flows in with ease and I actually work (doing what I love) part time hours.
Contrast my success with the majority of coaches, workshop leaders and Info-marketers. According to coaching industry statistics – after spending thousands of dollars learning to become a coach and getting certified, 97 percent of these smart, insightful people who genuinely want to help others never make a full time income. Most never even get close to being able to leave their job and make their business their true income earner.
When Others Zig – Figure Out How to Zag
I make a very good income providing marketing mentoring and selling other info-products I’ve created both online and offline. Oh, and I never give away free mentoring sessions. I know that’s what the industry recommends – but I don’t do it. I figure if it doesn’t work for 97 percent of coaches then it sure as heck isn’t for me. When everyone else zigs – I figure out how to zag.
And after I don’t give away a free mentoring session, 75-80 percent of the people I talk with on the phone about mentoring say “yes” happily to doing business. I’ll show you how if you decide to work with me.

My husband and I enjoy international travel and have shared great adventures since I’ve been an Info-Marketer to places like Paris, Turkey, Greece, Thailand, India the Caribbean several times and all over the US. Soon we’re going to Cancun for ten days (we’ve been to Mexico about a half dozen times) and staying in a two bedroom, luxury condo overlooking the ocean. Once again, these trips don’t make me a loftier person in any way – but they are dreams come true for me and I’m sure you have your own dreams you’d like to make come true. I can help.
Being a successful Info-Marketing gives me the freedom to come and go as I please and I do what I want to do – when I want to do it. Info-marketing has given me a life of creativity, fun, peace (because I’m doing what I love) and I know I’m genuinely helping others.

Here’s how I got into this Crazy, Fun, Creative, Exciting and Highly Profitable Business
I always wanted to be a speaker and an author but I didn’t know how to break into this crazy, little business. Go to your average bookstore and you won’t find anything on how to succeed selling your ideas as info-products. What I mean is information that can help people make more money, lose weight, set goals, feel more spiritual, grow personally and a myriad of different topics. So, like you – I had absolutely no idea how to start.
I set on a path to learn the business side of the business… to learn it from the inside out.
I worked for a speakers bureau getting speakers booked at large corporate events and I ended up heading a division of the company. I quadrupled the sales a new person in a speakers bureau ordinarily achieves. But I felt the people I was meant to help were individual, home-based business owners like you. Mostly women and a few enlightened men. Not corporate types – unless they’re ready to leave the corporation.
Then an amazing thing happened.
In December of 1999 I started working with a man who was a mega-bestselling author. He charged thousands of dollars to attend his seminars for business owners and aspiring business owners. If you’ve ever see those info-mercials on late night TV about how to buy real estate for no money down you know who I’m talking about. (Yes, info-mercials can be a lucrative part of this business.)
The first time we met I knew he was brilliant. I didn’t share with him my extensive experience in marketing, public relations, copywriting, strategic planning and selling. I was seriously over-qualified to be an executive assistant. I told him as his assistant I’d support him and make him look good – just enough to get the job. I wanted to learn from a master. Believe me, I did.
My "Big Break" Happened
When others Dropped the Ball
A few months later in April of 2000 his first book in ten years was released. His publisher hired a fancy-schmancy New York City public relations firm and paid a serious sum of money to get him media coverage while on his 22 city book tour – but they weren’t doing such a hot job. In fact they were flubbing it big time and dropped the ball. He was sitting in his hotel room thousands of miles away from home and family waiting to get the media coverage they promised. Nada. (This happens a lot with PR firms so you have to know what to beware of and what questions to ask.)
I told him a couple months before I had some experience working in public relations. One morning at 7:00 am he called me from the East Coast all upset. “You got your chance, kid!” he barked. “Anything you can do – I sure would appreciate it, Denise,” he implored.
Within a few days I got him on radio in Pittsburg, PA. And then a larger radio station in Chicago, IL. And then a major one in Los Angeles, CA. Then I got him and his new book on a national cable show. Then I booked him on CNNfn. And so it went. Within a month just working from my home office his book landed on the Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine and New York Times bestseller lists.
I became known between him and his business partner as “our secret weapon.” As a result of the book sales his seminar program surged – for a couple years.
His next book got on the bestseller lists more easily because he had a larger “platform.” A platform means a fan base of people interested in you and what you offer. Oh, that second book he co-authored with the billionaire speaker and co-author of those “soup” books. I won’t lie. I didn’t work for him directly. But I was involved in management meetings over the years where I got to see how his mind works behind the scenes. When he wasn’t smiling, shaking hands and signing autographs. I’m mentioned in that book in the Acknowledgements section as “the greatest assistant ever.”
My former boss now sells not just his own seminar program but seminars run by licensed trainers based on his ideas (he doesn’t even show up). This is called licensing of intellectual property. A few authors and savvy folks do it, too. Someone else runs the hotel room bookings, the advertising and handles all the registrations. All he does is collect a big, fat check every month.
But it must be done the right way. I know another mega-million selling author who started a program for people to lead workshops helping couples improve their relationships. The author has sold over ten million books the last decade. A guy in my weekly speaking club was one of his trainers. The program crashed and burned, not because he provided bad information – but because it wasn’t set up right. In this business – the quality of your information is important. But how things are set up and your marketing is every bit as important.
Mostly, I Paid Attention and Learned.

Several months after helping him get his book on the bestseller list he kidded me into ‘fessing up about my marketing background. I quickly became a marketing trainer for his seminar program and then hired a new assistant for him. I kept watching and paying attention. Carefully. Only now I wasn’t the assistant. I was a trainer and often a consultant to Mr. Big Author. They started flying me to cities to attend top management meetings and give my two cents worth. I shared my ideas. But mostly I took copious notes and paid attention.
They paid me to attend many of his seminars and provide feedback and ideas. I not only met thousands of wonderful people (maybe you!) but I watched like a hawk what was happening behind the scenes.
One of the best times was when I got to stay in New York City at a $400 a night hotel room for a week. I was on national radio. I met “The Today Show’s” weather guy Al Roker. I also visited the offices and met lifestyle maven Martha Stewart on that trip. It’s a fun life. Those things don’t make me a better person than anyone else – but they were people on my “list” I wanted to meet someday. So, I made a little dream come true that week. I can help you make your dreams come true, too.
In my teleclasses as a marketing trainer people wanted to learn to do what my boss the mega-guru author had done. The big difference is they were starting out from humble beginnings with average, middle-income bank accounts. They were average folks with big dreams Just like you. In contrast the guru had a big chunk of capital (mid 6-figures) set aside to build momentum on that book in the spring of 2000.
Over the years I started pulling together my own original, fresh ideas which led to finally writing and publishing my own book, “Testosterone-Free Marketing.” I started putting on my own workshops. I could’ve chosen to get capital funding but instead I decided to bootstrap it and only use the money I made to grow my business. Chances are that’s what you’re doing. You may not agree with this but I’ve never borrowed money for my business. Not once. My first workshop with only 35 attendees I cleared $6,437. in income after expenses. My second workshop I more than doubled that. And it’s continued. My book has become a business bestseller.
In my teleclasses people always want to know how Mr. Big Author built his empire. After all, he was highly successful, right? But once they hear about the big bucks it took for him to create momentum – many are dis-heartened. Who could blame them? It was like the momentum it takes to get a massive jet off the ground. They sometimes spend six-figures just on market research – to find out which way the wind is blowing and what’s the best for them direction to go next. This doesn’t even include the money spent on advertising to fill the room at one of those giant seminars. I kept listening.

I know. I know. Times are tight. I hear it every day. But a lot of people are still spending money right now. Y’know that week when the stock market plunged a couple thousand points and it set markets around the world tumbling? Me and all my Info-Marketing my mentoring clients did very well that week.
As the politicians have told us – change is coming. I don’t have a crystal ball and I don’t know what all the changes will be. What I do know is very often at the moment when people feel their world is pulled out from under them or it just might be – that seems to be one of those moments when my business goes up.
Why? I think it’s because many people like you have finally come to the conclusion you deserve to be happy. Truly happy. You deserve to have what you want in life. It happened after 9-11, too.

And that makes your business recession proof and a wonderful source of residual income.
Just look at the non-fiction section of your favorite bookstore. It’s loaded with books to help people make the positive changes you see above. What you may not realize is that for many of these authors their book is like a fancy “calling card” for their coaching, consulting, teleclasses, workshops and more. They are Info-Marketers, too. My former boss, the mega-bestselling author used to say, “You have to find a pool of hungry fish.” Watching him and applying my own knowledge about marketing and bootstrapping it – I cracked the code and I’ll teach you how to do it, too.
People want soooooo much more than fancy clothes, jewelry and a fancy house. Yes, they want those things – but even more they want a life they’ll be happy with for the rest of their lives. That’s real wealth.
I’ll give you another example of real wealth in my life, personally. And this has nothing to do with money. At age 48 I married the man of my dreams. In June of 2006 we tied the knot. My husband Ernie always makes me laugh, smile and feel special every day. He’s not a go-getter like me. I’m our primary breadwinner. He works for a local non-profit where he helps disadvantaged people, feels needed, valuable and collects a paltry paycheck. So I certainly didn’t marry him for the money.
I married him because laughing with the man I love every day is true abundance to me. I also married him because I know I have the ability to make my own money – so I didn’t settle for a guy who acts like a jerk sometimes but he has a great job. Hey, jobs can come and go. I have the sheer luxury of a man who cares deeply about my happiness, supports me emotionally and it’s all possible because I never have in the back of my mind concerns about how we’re going to make it together financially.
I created that kind of freedom and love in my life. If it’s important to you, you can create it, too.
