What’s it Like Working with a Marketing Mentor?
I recently had a client begin mentoring and before getting started she said, "I've never been mentored before." So, I thought it would be a good idea to EXPLAIN what it's like. I can't say what mentoring is like with anyone else - but I can say what its like with me. Ready. Get set. GO!
I start by giving my clients a Get Ready assignment. This assignment gives me a better idea of your VISION for your business. It's not difficult. There are no right or wrong answers. It’s about helping you take charge of creating a business you’ll love. I look over your “Get Ready Assignment” before we get on the phone together at our first scheduled appointment time.
Week one we'll hit the ground running so you get the most of our time together. I have unlimited long distance throughout the USA and Canada as well as Skype. So I can CONNECT with clients around the world free. For this reason I usually initiate our calls together – but I make sure you have my office phone, too.
Get Set. Based on everything we share before our first mentoring call, I often already have CLUES about why you're having challenges in your business and why you’re holding back from success.
Go! Once we talk - chances are you'll say, "Yep, you hit the nail on the head." Or something close. You’ll start figuring out why things seem overwhelming. I’ll give you simple, step-by-step ways to start turning it around. I’ll encourage you to ask questions and SUPPORT you in being your own person. Authentically you. I'm intuitive and skilled at reading people and circumstances – so I can identify challenges you haven’t even told me about yet.
We talk on the phone together weekly. Most of my calls with mentoring clients last about an hour. Sometimes I might sneak in an extra ten minutes or so. I want to make sure we don’t end our call together until you are CLEAR, your questions are answered and you know what to do next.
The first month of mentoring there’s so much for you to learn and DISCOVER. So, I recently created my Quick Start program. With most of my clients part of your homework the first month will include more than our one-on-one calls together. I’ll also ask you to listen to a one hour audio to give you the marketing fundamentals. This way you actually get double the VALUE which brings you up to speed quickly.

Mentoring is about you and what you want to create with your business. It’s also about starting at where you are today – your current level of understanding about business and marketing. Anything you want to create is fine as long as it’s about helping people in a positive way. It's YOUR business.
Once you know what you want (and yes I often help clients get more clarity on their vision, strategy and goals) we start developing your plans and a strategy to create it. I become your support person, your “marketing muse,” your mentor to throw ideas at. I’m also a person who’ll help you dream up great, business-solid ideas – customized to your business. I’ll also INSPIRE you and help you discover ways to inspire yourself.
There are new discoveries, insights, practical ideas, free-wheeling creative ideas and big a-has in every mentoring session together. It's about focusing your attention on what matters most in your business to help you enjoy your success. Your way. You make POSITIVE changes for your reasons - never mine.

Oh, I also have a degree with two majors: Business-Marketing and Journalism-Advertising. But I don’t count that because it came from the “ivory tower” world of academics which means basically they taught me how to run the marketing department of a big, stiff, uncaring corporation and be a journalist or copywriter. The university didn’t tell me how to get the average person to reach into their purse and HAPPILY buy a product or service. I learned that on my own over the years.
I hold you ACCOUNTABLE. I have a reputation of being direct. I won't beat around the bush. I won’t accept namby-pamby excuses. I'm incredibly supportive, caring and compassionate if you’re outside of your comfort zone or you just don’t quite get it. Just be honest. I am the soul of compassion. I care about you and your success. That’s why if you’re moving forward I’ll hold you accountable, bring it up and get to the bottom of where the block is.

Each week I’ll give you assignments to complete. They’re “real world,” not theoretical and meant help you move forward. If you don't complete the assignments - we'll talk about why. We'll explore the REAL reasons which usually have nothing to do with time.
